The Estonian Recovery Organisation (ERO), was formed in 2004 by biggest Estonian and well-known international companies. ERO is organising its clients packaging waste (post-consumer and industrial) take-back and recovery from Estonian market nation-wide. ERO is a member of ProEurope and the only organisation which have a right to use Green Dot sign on Estonian territory. ERO´s collection containers are wearing Green Dot sign. All companies that have joined ERO and signed licence agreement have a right to use Green Dot mark on their packages. By having a right to use Green Dot on a package, the company is informing the society that it´s packages are collected and recovered in Green Dot system. All together there are approximately 30 Green Dot organisations, mainly in European countries. The Green Dot organisations are unifying more than 200 million people participating in packaging waste collection and sorting activities. The United Nations has designated the period 2005 to 2014 as the decade of “Education for Sustainable Development”. The objective is to integrate the concept of sustainable development in education processes around the world. The Green Dot organisation of Estonia ERO accepts its responsibility for the future and is contributioning to ensuring people are aware of how important it is to adapt their behaviour and lifestyles to promote sustainable development. |
